Disney’s Riviera Resort opened yesterday, becoming the fifteenth and most recent Disney Vacation Club Resort. We’ve been exploring the sophisticated hallways, checking out the bespoke artwork, and just generally enjoying the newness, and now it’s time to take you on a food tour of the Resort!

So come along as we travel the Riviera (Resort) to bring you a food tour of all the places you’ll be dining (and drinking) when you stay in or visit the Resort.Â
Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera
The Resort’s headliner restaurant is Topolino’s Terrace — Flavors of the Riviera.

Not only does this rooftop restaurant offer sweeping views of Walt Disney World…

…and glimpses of nighttime shows at Epcot, Magic Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood studios…

…it also brings the fresh ingredients and classic combinations for which Riviera-regional food is known. These are showcased in the entrance of the restaurant.

According to previews shared by Disney, we already knew that pasta would be made fresh in-house and that flavors would be regionally and thoughtfully crafted, and this seems to have come to delicious fruition.
But we also knew that breakfast here would be full of character. We’ll start with the most important meal of the day: Breakfast a la Art with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy!

Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace
Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is a character meal where the food and the friends are equally enigmatic. Because the theme is art, Minnie, Daisy, Mickey, and Donald all wear costumes commensurate with their favorite art.

Everyone in your dining party shares a selection of pastries including Pain d’Epi (pull-apart French bread), danishes, and muffins.

These are served with three spreads: house-made berry jam, honey butter, and chocolate-hazelnut spread.

Entrees range from traditional to slightly twisted classics and from light to hearty. The Croissant au Jambon is a cheesy take on the classic ham and cheese croissant.

And the Spiced Sausage Hash is stick-to-your-ribs to fuel a day at the parks (or a day by the pool).

Wash down your breakfast eats with Florida Sunshine — aka POG juice.

Or grab a grown-up drink like a mimosa! There are a few different varieties on the menu.

Coffee and tea are also, of course, available. Twinings tea selections are presented by a server.

Overall, breakfast at Topolino’s is light and fun, with bright views and satisfying food. We imagine this will become a popular spot to meet characters for groups looking to do so with a level of sophistication.
Breakfast at Topolino’s Terrace is prix fixe and requires one table service credit if you use the Disney Dining Plan.
Dinner at Topolino’s Terrace
Unlike the prix fixe breakfast, dinner at Topolino’s is a la carte and requires two Disney Dining Plan credits. Yes, this is a Signature dining experience. The cuisine for dinner is Riviera-inspired, so you see plenty of French and Italian inspirations.

Dinner begins with French Pain d’Epi — pull-apart bread that is formed to resemble wheat.

A server pours two olive oils for dipping; one is French, the other Italian.

Antipasti and Starters include a variety of European-inspired items, including Escargots en Coquille (in the shell).

The Gnocchi is served with duck confit, kale, pine nuts, and pesto bianco.

The Ricotta is made in-house and comes with a piece of Pain d’Epi, tomato, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil.

There are several house-made pasta dishes, the lightest of which is Bucatini with Pomodoraccio Tomatoes, basil, Calabrian chilies, pecorino Toscano.

Linguini Scampi is prepared with Shrimp, San Marzano Tomatoes, Garlic, Lemon, Italian Olive Oil, Verbena, and Bottarga.

Rigatoni is accompanied by braised chicken sugo, dandelion greens, and Parmesano-Reggiano.

Seafood lovers will appreciate the Bouillabaisse with red snapper, branzino, mussels, and more in a flavorful broth.

For a meaty entree (with an indulgent side), the Tomahawk Veal Chop is a winner. The Potato-Torpedo Onion Gratin are a great accompaniment.

Desserts include a classic Warm Valrhona Chocolate Cake with a caramel center and chantilly.

But for a special ending to the meal, diners can order the House Fromage Board. This is prepared tableside and features honey from the farm of the restaurant’s head chef.

The Fromage Board is served with more Pain d’Epi and seed lavosh.

There’s an extensive menu of cocktails, mocktails, liquor, wine, and beer from which to choose at Topolino’s. Click here to browse the menu!

Specialty coffees also make a great ending for the meal.

Topolino’s Terrace Lounge
Topolino’s Terrace has a lounge that is first come, first served — no Advance Dining Reservations accepted.

In the lounge, diners can order from the full menu. And, like California Grill, if you dine in the lounge early in the evening but still want to see fireworks views from Topolino’s, you can save your receipt from the lounge and re-enter to access the outdoor terrace for viewing.
The outdoor lounge at Topolino’s is a great place to grab a before- or after-dinner drink and is intended for use by patrons of the restaurant — lounge or dining room. There is an outdoor bar serving the same drinks as inside, so if you want to enjoy the view with a sip of something tasty, you can do that.

Topolino’s Terrace Discounts and Dining Plan Options
At this time, Topolino’s Terrace accepts Annual Passholder discounts, Golden Oak discounts, and Disney Vacation Club discounts for dinner. A DVC discount is the only discount applied for breakfast. Tables in Wonderland discounts will be added at a later date but were not active for opening. Cast Member discounts do not apply.
For those using Disney Dining Plan, Topolino’s Terrace dinner requires two entitlements. Those on the standard DDP can select one pasta OR entree, one dessert, and one drink. Those on the Deluxe DDP also select one starter OR anti pasti.
Primo Piatto
When the mood for quick service strikes (or you’re heading to a Park and need some grab-and-go sustenance), Primo Piatto is the main counter service option in the Resort.
Primo Piatto has both exterior and interior entrances. The exterior are located across from the pool; the interior is down a small hallway from the lower level of the lobby (floor 1 on the elevator).

The decor at Primo Piatto is relatively understated but features many photographs of Walt Disney — particularly of his travels in the Riviera!

Primo Piatto serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Dinner starts at 4:30PM and features three additional entrees.

Bar Riva
Bar Riva serves up some of the same dishes as Primo Piatto with a few dishes that are just for Bar Riva’s diners. If you’re in the vicinity of this poolside bar, order up any of their Rivier-inspired dishes and enjoy the bright and stylish space!

Le Petit Cafe
Another dining option has a French twist: Le Petit Cafe. This small, lobby-adjacent space has two functions.

In the morning, it’s a French cafe pouring out specialty coffee and dishing out pastries. But beginning in the afternoon through closing time, Le Petit Cafe transforms into a wine bar.

Vivoli Il Gelato Cart
Upon opening, Riviera Resort had a little bonus: a poolside gelato cart operated by Vivoli Il Gelato!

This cart serves up gelato in three sizes. During our first visit, Peppermint Gelato was the seasonal flavor, so be sure to inquire about seasonal options!

Riviera Resort has a lot to offer in terms of its culinary arts, and being on the Skyliner line means you can enjoy some or all of these eats, drinks, and treats without staying at the Resort!
