NEWS: US Dept. of State Issues Travel Advisory for Citizens

The U.S. State Department issued an alert for U.S. citizens traveling abroad.

Travelers are encouraged to “exercise increased caution” due to the unfolding Israel-Hamas war and increased tensions in light of Hamas’ terror attack on Israel. 

The State Department released a statement reading, “Due to increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests, the Department of State advises U.S. citizens overseas to exercise increased caution.”

 

U.S. citizens are urged to:

  • Stay alert in locations frequented by tourists.
  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive information and alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency overseas.
  • Follow the Department of State on Facebook and Twitter.

According to ABC News, the State Department has also started instructing global embassies and consulates to conduct emergency security reviews. Stay tuned for additional updates.
