“I Really, Really Loved It.” – We Just Went Inside the NEW Harry Potter World at Epic Universe and Found 25 HIDDEN Secrets

We’re on a mission to become the ultimate experts of Epic Universe, and that doesn’t just mean becoming familiar with all the lands…

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic in Epic Universe

It means checking out the hidden details in each land that hardcore fans of Harry Potter, How to Train Your Dragon, and Super Mario won’t want to miss. One of the most recognizable and popular franchises in the park is Harry Potter, so we headed over to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter — Ministry of Magic to see what we could find, and BOY were we shocked to find over 25 hidden details in the park!

The Arch

Starting at the very front of the land, when you walk under the arch, pay close attention to the posters plastered underneath — exactly halfway under the arch, they change from regular Muggle advertisements to Wizarding World ads!

Pay close attention to the posters

And the Latin on the arch? Well, it means “the steward made the rock,” which is likely a reference to Nicholas Flamel, who you can find living above Le Gobelet Noir!

The huge perfume ad you see beside the arch is for Divine Magic. This is the same perfume from the ad in Kings Cross in the movies, and that you see in the park.

The ad!

There’s also an ad for it in the Fantastic Beasts films. Talk about good marketing!

There are SO many here, so let’s break them down!

  • Don’t miss the Bowtruckles and Dirigible Plums in the Florist window!
Don’t miss them!
  • A magical creature is also inside the porcelain shop — if you stand near the door, you can hear it breaking stuff and making little gremlin noises
  • There’s a bathroom sign that is VERY reminiscent of the prefect bathroom sink from the Chamber of Secrets
Check out that design!
  • The “Slippery When Wet” signs in the land have a little witch on them
  • There’s an anti-niffler security sign…right next to the niffler breaking into the jewelry shop
  • The cafe has historic landmark signs about how it was very close to a meeting place for revolutionaries during the French Revolution, but notes that the wizards stayed impartial. It was historically named to commemorate the relationship between wizards and mermaids, as mermaids helped to keep magical creatures hidden!

  • You can find a restaurant and mixology school sign right outside the cafe, and all of the names are funny puns. Our favorite is “Mr. and Madame Croque” (which is supposed to be like a croque monsieur and a croque madame)
Oh the puns!
  • One of the big Cirque banners is a maledictus and is likely an old advertisement for Nagini
  • The moving statue from the Fantastic Beasts films is here, and you can see it in the forced perspective area behind the circus. While it’s not moving, it IS the same statue from the films

We noticed a House Elf Entrance to the department store over here

There’s also a flying carpet shop! This is interesting because flying carpets were made illegal in the Wizarding World, but since you’re in the 1920s, you’re visiting during a time before they were made illegal.

Magic Carpet shop!

We also spotted a Bowtruckle picking a lock, a Gobstones Club plaque where Nicholas Flamel is the oldest member, there’s a Mooncalf in the glasses store, and there’s a Nicholas Flamel book at the library!

There’s something interesting about stroller parking to mention, too — this area is themed to a port key agency where you can get a portkey to all these different cities.

We love this detail!

Their logo is “No Floo, No Problem,” and you can hear portkeys going off from outside!

One of the first things we noticed is that Bar Moonshine has American Quidditch pennants, and the one closest to the door is Florida’s. There are also little scenes above the tailor shop that you can hear and see. The one we saw is a little argument where a guy says, “There isn’t a single spell you could do,” and then the other guy hits him with Aguamenti Maxima (a variation of the Water-Making Spell), and he’s blasted with water for about ten seconds, and then he’s says, “I think I’m gonna go.” We originally thought it was just an audio scene, but at night, you can see their silhouettes in the windows!

Listen closely and visit again at night!

There’s also a very funny poster over here that says that the Mona Lisa forgot to return to her frame and that obliviators are needed!

You won’t believe it, but there’s MORE!

We weren’t able to go into Le Gobelet Noir during this trip because it was closed, but outside, there’s proof that Nicholas Flamel lives above the bar, and you can see into what we believe is his workshop with all of his different alchemist supplies. There is a spell you can do here, and if you cast the divination spell on the crystal ball in his workshop, it shows the future of the Philosopher’s Stone — specifically, it shows the scene of 11-year-old Harry Potter holding it from the first movie!

If you head over to chat with the talking portrait of Cassandra Trelawny, one of the portraits that is with her is Sir Cadogan, who is a character who is only in the Harry Potter books. He is the one who leads Harry, Ron, and Hermione to the North Tower in the Prisoner of Azkaban to head to their first Divination lesson. He was also installed in place of The Fat Lady to guard Gryffindor Tower in the same novel, and is therefore the one who lets Sirius Black into the tower after Sirius found Neville’s lost list of the passwords for the week.

Sir Cadogan!

We also spotted the Vanishing Cabinet in the Antique shop, decades before it would ever be used by Draco Malfoy and the Death Eaters, and that’s just the beginning! We can’t wait to continue exploring this incredible land and seeing all the hidden details there are to enjoy.
