REVIEW: Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Just Got Better Thanks to 5 NEW Treats

Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary Celebration has finally begun!

Time to celebrate!

This summer will be filled with tons of special merchandise, exclusive entertainment, limited-time experiences, and so much more. One part of this celebration we were most looking forward to was the SNACKS! We got a chance to try SEVEN of the new 70th Anniversary snacks, and we’re still dreaming about them.

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe

Our first stop was over at Jolly Holiday for THREE new 70th Anniversary treats! First up was the Celebration Matterhorn Macaroon, which is a Coconut Macaroon dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles for $8.29. You can’t go wrong with this one! It tastes like a delicious coconut donut, and the white chocolate on top adds a perfect amount of sweetness to the macaroon. It gets a 5/5 from us!

We also grabbed the 70th Celebration Macaron for $8.29, which is made with vanilla bean buttercream, strawberry jam, fresh strawberry, strawberry whipped topping, and a strawberry crunch.

70th Celebration Macaron

Not only does this one LOOK adorable, but it tastes great too. It gets another perfect 5/5 score from us because the macaron shell on top is perfectly baked, the buttercream and strawberry filling add a refreshing, real strawberry taste to the treat, and the cake on the bottom is moist!

It’s adorable!

Finally, we grabbed the Mickey Hat Cookie, which is a cookie dipped in black chocolate with a chocolate decoration for $6.79. The traditional shortbread cookie is moist and dense without being hard to bite or break, and we tasted a bit of almond or vanilla in the back.

The thin layer of rich chocolate on top complemented it beautifully, so if you’ve got a sweet tooth, we give it a 4/5.

Tiana’s Palace

Next up was Tiana’s Palace for the House-filled Celebration Beignet for $5.99. This is filled with raspberry mousse, buttercream glaze, edible candle, and sprinkles.

House-filled Celebration Beignet

Unfortunately, this was a pass for us. It tastes artificial, starting with the blue frosting on top that might make your face look like a Smurf. The strawberry filling tasted like a strange strawberry whipped cream, and there wasn’t very much filling inside.

Absolutely not

We were disappointed to see no fluff like there is with traditional beignets. This gets a 0/5 from us. We suggest sticking to the traditional beignets if you’re craving that pillow-like texture.

Tropical Hideaway

Over at Tropical Hideaway, you can find the Pineapple Upside Down Sundae, which is pineapple DOLE Whip, caramel drizzle, and pineapple upside-down cake topped with a maraschino cherry for $8.49.

Pineapple Upside Down Sundae

We weren’t fans of the cake’s texture mixed with the DOLE Whip, so we recommend ordering it without the cake. However, we loved the addition of the caramel, and all the flavors taste perfect together — it gets a 3/5 from us!

The Golden Horseshoe

Here we snagged a savory snack — the Cowboy Fries! These are fries with nacho cheese, sautéed ground beef, burger sauce, and butter pickles, which you can get for $13.99.

Cowboy Fries

These far exceeded our expectations and gave us Big Mac vibes from McDonald’s in the best way! The ground beef was flavored well, the cheese and burger sauce went so well together, and the butter pickles (sweet pickles) complemented all the toppings. We highly recommend — it gets a 5/5 from us!

Churro Cart

Finally, it was time for the 70th Celebration Churro, which you can get from various churro carts all over the park for $7.50. It’s a classic churro rolled in ube sugar and topped with marbled blue raspberry icing drizzle and sprinkles.

70th Anniversary Churro

This was one of our favorite specialty churros so far. The ube sugar had a sweet and salty taste, and the raspberry icing offered a tart sweetness — we were impressed by how well the flavors all worked together! It gets a 5/5 from us, but beware; it WILL dye your mouth purple.

Wondrous Journeys show!

Be sure to stay tuned to AllEars as we continue to try tons of the other snacks around the resort for this special event!
