Picture this: you’re heading to Disney World to rope drop, ready to have the best vacation ever, after spending the night in front of Coronado Springs Resort. You pack the family in the car, head out the door, and BAM, you’re sitting at a stoplight for what feels like forever.

Disney World and the rest of Orlando have traffic, but we found one specific light that you’ll want to avoid as much as possible.
The stoplight on Buena Vista Drive before you hit Western Way and turn right into Coronado Springs drives us crazy! Buena Vista is a huge street, and it’s likely you’ll get on it at some point during your Disney World trip, no matter where you stay.

Buena Vista Drive and then onto Western Way is one of the few ways to get to that side of Disney property, including an entrance to the toll road and Flamingo Crossings, the Cast Member employee housing mainly used for the Disney College Program.

Once you turn onto Western Way, it’s only two lanes, and because so many people are trying to get that direction, it can back up to the front of Coronado Springs and so much further.

If you’re staying at Coronado Springs, can you avoid this light? Well, not really. Since it’s at the resort’s entrance, you have to enter that way, but there are ways you can make it better.

You can leave early (or later!). We know getting up even earlier on your Disney World day is not ideal, but neither is sitting at the same light for a while. You can also take Disney World buses. Even though they will go through the same light as you, at least you don’t have to drive! You can start planning your park day on your phone and talking about how you’re going to spend your incredible day.

This light tends to be busier in the morning when the parks open and around 6 PM and later, when people are finishing their work days or are finished with the parks for the day.

The light on Vista Blvd and 535 if you come in through the warehouse area is absolutely terrible and far worse than the Western Way light when leaving WDW. The one up the road from it into the back entrance of Riverside is also awful.
