A long-running Disney World refurbishment project is officially FINISHED!

Over 1000 rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter resort have recently been refurbished and modernized!
The new rooms feature “colorful fabrics and patterns inspired by the city’s charming architecture, bringing the lively spirit of ‘The Big Easy’ to life, just like the buildings’ vibrant exteriors,” according to Disney.

Nods to Mardi Gras play a big role in the rooms’ decor, including artwork featuring purple, gold, and green beads, as well as those colors represented throughout the furniture and other accouterments.

The rooms also integrate characters from the New Orleans-set Princess and the Frog, including Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis, and Charlotte La Bouff, all “dressed in their Mardi Gras best and dancing through the French Quarter in style!”

The rooms also have newly renovated bathrooms including “intricate detailing on the bathroom door and mosaic-style pattern above the beds, and you might catch hidden details like Tiana’s sparkling tiara, as well as drums and trumpets — an homage to New Orleans’ jazz roots.” Beyond these thematic touches, the new bathrooms also feature spacious countertops and plenty of storage options, “ perfect for those mornings when the family is getting ready before a fun-filled day at the theme parks.”

In addition to the rooms, the hotel’s Doubloon Lagoon pool area and Mardi Grogs pool bar have also been renovated, with the latter featuring “a brighter, more upscale look with airy blues, black-and-white tiles and wrought iron details” that “perfectly weave in those recognizable New Orleans elements while complementing the relaxed poolside vibe.”

The new rooms are a new addition to the history of the Port Orleans Resort, which is one of the most interesting of Disney’s on-property hotels. The two hotels that are currently part of the overall Port Orleans complex were originally two distinct hotels: Port Orleans and Dixie Landings. The latter was merged into Port Orleans in the late 1990s, being re-dubbed Port Orleans Riverside while the original Port Orleans gained the French Quarter addition.

Disney’s massive renovation of the rooms at the Port Orleans – French Quarter is complete, bringing a modern touch to the Moderate-level resort. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Disney’s hotel changes.

Was in a new room last year after Thanksgiving. Somewhat improved over the old one but still short of where it could be. Cannot sit on the bench with AC running cause it blows right on you. No chairs and table to snall. Bathroom fan shuts off while showering just to name a few things wrong. Like the reading lights next to the beds and more storage in the sink room.
