REVIEW: This Hidden Disney World Hotel Restaurant Has Chocolate Strawberry-Covered Fries

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Luckily, you’ve come to the right place!

Disney’s Riviera Resort

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney World restaurants,  including where you should definitely eat and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Primo Piatto at Disney’s Riviera Resort and are bringing you our FULL review!

Background

Located at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Primo Piatto promises to be a spot where guests can gather with”family and friends for a quick snack or casual meal of sandwiches, salads, beer, wine and more!”

Atmosphere

Primo Piatto aesthetically fits into the same theme as the rest of the resort, celebrating the French and Italian Riviera.

Primo Piatto

The quick service restaurant features a simple yet deceptively elegant design motif, with views out onto the hotel’s central courtyard.

But enough about that, what did we chow down on during our most recent visit?

Food & Drinks

First up, we grabbed the Bacon Cheddar Burger for $14.69!

Bacon Cheddar Burger

The signature-blend brisket and chuck burger is served with bacon, aged cheddar, and garlic mayonnaise.

The Burger…

We found this burger to be… alright. It was better than the standard Disney World burger, but also didn’t stand out in any mind-boggling way. The patty is a bit thicker than the typical Disney World burger, and the toppings helped. However, the bun was a bit of a letdown. It was similar to the typical buns found at establishments like Cosmic Rays, which felt out of place and brought down the overall burger considerably.

Inside

We chose the Garlic Parmesan Fries as our side, and once again, they were… fine.  Nothing bad, but also nothing special, and they really could have used more flavor from the titular parmesan.

We also tried the $13.49 Croque Monsieur.

Croque Monsieur.

This is Disney’s take on the “classic” French ham and Swiss sandwich.

Look at that ham…

Truth be told, we came into this review with comparatively lower expectations for the Croque Monsieur, and were pleasantly surprised. Served between 2 pieces of lightly toasted buttered bread, the sandwich features melted cheese, scallions, and thinly-sliced ham. It was a delicious combo, and we would definitely get it again. One note, though: The longer the sandwich sits, the soggier it gets, so you might want to eat it quickly. As a side, we went with regular fries, which, if you’ve had one order of regular Disney fries, you’ve had them all.

We also dove into some sweets! First up, the Strawberry Chocolate Fries (yes, you read that right) for $6.99.

Yuuum

This dish features cinnamon-sugar French Fries topped with chocolate ganache, strawberries, and honey cream cheese.

Strawberry Chocolate Fries

These were AMAZING. The strawberries, the cream cheese, the chocolate syrup, and the almost churro-like fries create a delicious cornucopia of flavors.

Finally, we also grabbed the $12.49 Riviera Cookie Box.

Cookies!

This box features four of the resort’s signature take on chocolate chip cookies.

Drooooling

These sea salt cookies feature chocolate chips, walnuts, dried cherries, and pistachios. While that may sound like a flavor overload, the mixture actually works REALLY well.

The box is cute too…

Magic or Tragic?

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • You’re a fan of French ham & cheese.
  • You want a delicious dessert.
  • You’re looking for a quick burger and don’t mind a relatively typical Disney burger.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • You’re looking for a burger that’s a step above the “typical” Disney World fare.

We would definitely head back to Primo Piatto for another Croque Monsieur, followed by one of the restaurant’s desserts. We’ll probably skip the burger next time, though.

The spread!
