Why Disney Adults Are Suddenly Changing Their Minds About the Muppets Coaster

If there’s one thing Disney fans have, it’s opinions—especially when it comes to beloved rides getting a re-theme.

To that point, we thought we’d reach out to you and get your takes on the re-theme, and surprisingly, a lot of longtime Disney fans are warming up to the idea—some are even hyped..

We reached out to our followers on Facebook and Instagram to ask: “Are you excited about the re-theme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to The Muppets?” We had quite a few people leave their opinions in the comments!

What do you think?

Now, let’s go over some of your top responses!

“Yes. While I’m a little sad… it was due for an overhaul.”

First up, Wendy gave us the perfect example of how conflicted many fans are feeling:

“Yes. While I’m a little sad about Muppets vision for nostalgia reasons, and the last thing Henson worked on, IMO it was due for an overhaul. I’m excited they will not be leaving the park completely and look forward to the new RNR.”

This really sums it up. There’s love for the original Muppet*Vision 3D attraction and what it represents, but people are also seeing this re-theme as a way to give the Muppets a bigger, more updated spotlight in the park. Nostalgia is powerful—but so is the promise of something fresh and fun.

“Let’s be honest, it’s past its sell-by date.”

Then there’s the argument we heard over and over again: Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster as-is was kind of… dated, and to that, Don didn’t hold back:

“I like RnRc as is but let’s be honest it’s past its sell by date. Even the entry spiel is outdated. Having said that, the track is fine as is so overall nothing really gets lost there. However, and there has to be a however, has there been mention of what the actual ride vehicles will look like? Not that it really matters, but damn that Caddy was sweet.”

Sweet Caddy

Hard agree on the Cadillac. But Don’s right—keeping the track layout while updating everything else feels like a solid win. The bones of the ride are still thrilling, and giving the overlay a new story (and maybe a Dr. Teeth-themed ride vehicle?) just adds to the fun.

“I still want Muppets in Hollywood… this shack up is a good compromise.”

A lot of readers were relieved that this re-theme keeps the Muppets in Hollywood Studios.About that, Cela wrote:

“Yes. I will miss walking this way to backstage passes but I still want muppets in Hollywood but also want monsters in Hollywood so this shack up is a good compromise that turns into something exciting.”

Look, we all loved shouting “WALK THIS WAY!” on the way into the preshow. But Cela makes a great point—this change feels like Disney is finally committing to giving the Muppets more space in the parks, instead of letting them quietly fade out. That alone is worth being excited about.

“It was time for a retheme.”

Jason echoed what a lot of people were thinking:

“I absolutely love Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster and it is one of my favorites, but It was time for a re-theme for sure and I am glad they are putting a Disney spin on it, but I am a little sad that a different rockstar cameo isn’t coming in to replace Aerosmith. It would have been great to have a rockstar and the muppets collaborate together.”

Okay, real talk: a Muppets x rockstar crossover ride? That would’ve been incredible. Picture Gonzo bungee jumping off a drum kit while Slash plays live. Still, Jason’s onto something—putting a Disney property in the mix instead of a random aging band makes a lot of sense in 2025.

“Bring on Dr. Teeth!”

Joseph is already picturing it:

“Bring on Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem jamming Can You Picture That from the original movie!! I liked the Aerosmith version but it was getting old. If the other door was open in the pre show, I’d just keep going.”

We can picture that, and honestly, it sounds amazing. Electric Mayhem is chaotic, colorful, and has the perfect kind of Muppet energy to replace the backstage concert vibe. We’re hoping for bright lights, big hair, and maybe a Statler and Waldorf cameo mid-launch.

“Kids just aren’t excited for Aerosmith in 2025.”

Let’s face it—Aerosmith doesn’t exactly scream “timeless” to today’s younger parkgoers. About that, Ryan nailed it with:

“It was way overdue. Even as a fan of Aerosmith, it’s past its expiration date. Muppets is a GREAT way to change this up. Kids just aren’t getting very excited for backstage passes to an Aerosmith concert…in 2025.”

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster pre-show

That’s the thing—this isn’t about hating on Aerosmith. It’s about creating something relevant. The Muppets have a cross-generational fanbase, humor that still works, and just enough chaos to match the coaster’s energy.

“I am. And also… what about the merch?”

Finally, let’s not forget the other big question by Staci:

“Yes, I am. And also to see what the new muppet merch will be. I’m also curious if how they will re-theme the snack cart outside.”

Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

Listen, we love a good thrill ride. But we really love a good snack and some themed merch. If this re-theme delivers on new collectibles, cool shirts, and maybe some Gonzo-themed churros? Count us in.

Well, those were just some of your thoughts on re-theme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster to The Muppets, and now we want to hear even more from you! In the meantime, stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Disney news!

  1. bwaaahm bah ba-da-da-da-daaaah OH YEAH
It’s all about the Electric Mayhem for me. I just hear the opening lines of Can you Picture That every time I read about the re-theming. All psychodelic whirling swirling colors.

They could in theory keep the current ride vehicles but do that rainbow overlay Just Like The Movie!

It would be equally awesome to have a changing soundtrack selection with every ride a la Guardians Epcot ride.

  2. Rock & Rollercoaster was my Favorite ride, I’m disappointed it’s changing. Loved the music. One of my other favorite rides was re themed years ago and that was Alien Encounter using the excuse it wasn’t kid friendly.

  3. I was sad to hear that Muppetvision was closing, but happy when they were going to RnR. I love Aerosmith but they aren’t really relevant anymore. There is some space past RnR they used for a Mickey Dance Club years ago that could be used for more Muppets expansion, so I’m excited for that. Hopefully some of the Easter eggs from MV3D makes its way over.

  4. Muppets are a great retheme for RRC and I’ve thought so since it was announced. Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are great, and I’m hoping we get a “Waka this Way” joke from Fozzy in the preshow

  5. Nope nope nope. I agree RNR needed an update or a retheme. But Muppets? That’s a weird one and I’m
Not buying into it. Powerline is what a lot of people wanted and I could see that. But Muppets nah. It’s gonna be goofy and cheesy and frankly I don’t see it being that great. Rockin Roller Coaster with The Muppets?

    1. You’re not a Muppet fan then?

Powerline was in one scene in one movie almost 30 years ago.

The Muppets have been around for 50 years with a lot of history and new content releasing somewhat regularly.

On a different note: Walking around Hollywood Studios, I overheard a teenage girl asking her friend if she knew who Aerosmith was. It said a lot.

Something that ALSO said a lot was when I first went to Disney World in 2005, it already felt dated. And here we are 20 years later and it is finally changing.

    2. While I dont mind a retheme, i think it needs more than just changing Aerosmith to the Muppets. The coaster needs completely redone, made something along the lines of guardians of the galaxy or if you dont want to go that hard, the dwarf mine ride? Gotta change up the track and delivery.

    1. Yes! What a brilliant idea! The episode that started it all!

I have to say that whilst I enjoy RNR it was years before I knew that there were different songs each time you ride! They all sounded the same to me! (I don’t have the same problem with GOTG and sing along with that soundtrack.)
