CONFIRMED: A BIG Rule Change Is Coming to Magic Kingdom Next Month

Magic Kingdom is gearing up for some major transformations.

Cinderella Castle

Magic Kingdom is about to get even more dazzling this summer, with a brand-new nighttime parade set to debut on July 20th — the Disney Starlight parade. But along with the stunning floats and glowing entertainment comes a temporary change that Annual Passholders need to know: for a limited period, even seasoned passholders will need a park reservation to enter Magic Kingdom — yes, even after 2 PM, when they usually breeze in without one

This reservation requirement is specific to Magic Kingdom and is only temporary. We expect demand to spike for both the show and evening entry when the parade debuts. The other three Disney World parks are unaffected— you can still pop into Epcot, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, or Disney’s Animal Kingdom after 2 PM as usual, no reservation required.

Park hopping is still on the table, too. If you’ve reserved another park earlier in the day, you’re free to hop over to Magic Kingdom afterward — subject to capacity, of course. Just make sure you’ve got a reservation in place before heading to Magic Kingdom, and you’ll be all set to enjoy the nightly procession without any awkward moments at the gate.

Mickey, Minnie and Goofy will sport fancy new outfits in Disney Starlight.
