I Hate the Epic Universe Ride That Everyone Loves

Universal’s newest theme park is finally open!

Epic Universe is home to the Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, and more! I’ve loved the new theme park more than I can say, but if I’m being honest, the ride I hate the most is the ride everyone else loves.

Epic Universe has been open for about a month, and I’ve been lucky enough to be in the park A LOT. When it comes to rides, there are so many amazing options, but they aren’t all made equally.

Me in front of Monsters Unchained!

My favorite land (for now) is the Isle of Berk and it has continued to blow my mind. I think a lot of peeps agree that it’s amazing. From what I’ve heard from friends, coworkers, and pals online, the fan favorite ride in this land is Hiccup’s Wing Gliders.

As much as I wish I could agree…I just can’t. If I’m being frank, I hate this ride. Before you grab your pitchforks and send me back to Dark Universe, hear me out! This ride is super cool. It’s a family coaster that (spoilers!) has amazing animatronics, a fun launch, and even takes you backwards for a portion of it.

Several people have called it the “baby brother” of Hagrid’s Magical Creature Motorbike Adventure. I think that’s a pretty fair assessment, so why do I hate it? It pinches me horribly!

Hiccup’s Wing Gliders!

The ride has a lap bar that comes down across your legs like many family coasters, but when the launch starts, the lap bar always gets tighter, pinching my legs and making the ride really uncomfortable. I have ridden the ride several times now and attempted several different ways of clicking my lap bar into place, and every time it’s no use. I am pinched!

The ride seats

I have tried not to squeeze my legs before the launch, I have tried to push against the bar during the launch, and I’ve tried to make it tighter in the hopes that it won’t make it worse. None of these things have really helped.

This ride is so cool, though. It’s smooth, the animatronics feel real, and when the music starts, it really feels like you’re in the movie. I just wish so badly it didn’t make me so physically uncomfortable. Now that being said, it could be worse!

Look at that beauty

One thing I will give this ride is it hasn’t stolen my prescription glasses, which I can’t say for Stardust Racers. If you like this ride, keep on loving it! I will still ride it when friends or family want me to, but if I’m enjoying a solo day, I will probably skip this one.

Stardust Racers! Why did you steal from me?!

Maybe time will help my feelings for this attraction grow. Be sure to keep following AllEars for more honest Universal takes!
