It’s Been VERY Stormy in Disney World. Here’s Why That’s a Problem

It’s summertime in Disney World, which means that there are LOTS of storms happening throughout Florida each day.

However, if you’re looking at the forecast for your trip and notice it’s going to be MORE rainy or stormy than usual, don’t let it get you down. You can still have a VERY fun rainy day in Disney World, but you’ll need to be prepared to switch gears multiple times if the rides you were looking to ride close suddenly. In fact, June 19th was a PERFECT example of this happening in the parks.

Magic Kingdom

TRON Lightcycle / Run hit a 90-minute wait at the end of the day, so it’s looking like summer crowds are really waiting to ride this popular attraction when the sun has gone down and it’s cooler outside. However, rainy weather wreaked HAVOC on rides yesterday — with so many outdoor attractions, we really think Magic Kingdom is the WORST park to go to on a day that’s going to be extra stormy.

We thought Cosmic Rewind would come out on top yet again with the highest wait time, but Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure beat it with a 105-minute wait! The ride had some issues with closing throughout the day, so we’re not surprised to see it jump as high as it did — it is still one of the most popular rides in the park!

Slinky Dog Dash STARTED the day at its highest wait time, which was 170 minutes! We have a feeling this was due to the rain in the forecast later in the day, which did indeed close multiple rides; however, Rise of the Resistance, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, and Alien Swirling Saucers also closed alongside Slinky Dog Dash towards the end of the day. Even when the storm was over, Tower of Terror was also down for the last few hours of the day — it was definitely a rough day for Hollywood Studios.
