REVIEW: Breakfast Just Got a HUGE Upgrade at this Disney World Hotel

If breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day, then we’re all for that, even if you don’t eat breakfast until almost lunch (aka brunch) or you have that version of breakfast for dinner that we call brinner.

Contempo Cafe

Now, we’ve had all kinds of breakfasts in Disney World, including character breakfasts, super fancy breakfasts, and quick service breakfasts. Well, we’re at it again at Disney’s Contemporary Resort because some new menu items have arrived…and yes, that includes breakfasts!

Contempo Cafe has some new menu items, and we stopped by to check them out. We started with the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Multigrain Croissant for $8.99. It has a scrambled egg, bacon, and American cheese all served up on a multigrain croissant with potato barrels. First, you can’t tell that the croissant is multigrain — it’s flaky and buttery and exactly what you expect of a croissant. Then you’ve got some crispy bacon on there, fluffy eggs, and melted cheddar cheese.

It’s also served with a huge portion of potato barrels, which are nice and crispy, the perfect breakfast side.

We also picked up the Cinnamon Sugar Croissant Muffin for $4.79, which is filled with chocolate ganache. This thing is coated in that lovely cinnamon sugar, but it’s light enough that it’s not overpowering.

The croissant muffin is flaky and light, and then you’ve got that chocolate ganache in the center that just melts in your mouth.

We also dived into a few new desserts, including the Banana Cream and Caramel Trifle, which is layers of banana “whipped cream,” streusel, and caramel. This plant-based dessert is $5.99. This is originally from Chef Mickey’s, but we were told it was so popular, they brought it to the Contempo Cafe menu. It’s sort of like if banana pudding married pie, because you’ve got the banana mixed with cinnamon notes.

The banana is runny and melts in your mouth, but you can also taste the caramel. This is very good and really decadent for a quick service dessert.

Delicious flavor

But wait, there’s more! We also got the Passion Fruit-Raspberry Tart for $6.79, which is a vanilla tart shell filled with raspberry and passion fruit curd and whipped cream. It tastes mostly like cheesecake, and that’s the predominant flavor — we didn’t taste the fruit. It is pretty, though.

We’ll say that it was fine, but it’s not something we’d necessarily order again.

It’s kinda’ cheesecake-like

We’re not done yet, though, because we came back for lunch to try the new Loaded Cheese Fries for $6.49, which are fries supposedly loaded with bacon, cheddar, scallions, jalapenos, and house-made ranch. The fries we got only had cheese and bacon, though. However, they were still as good as they looked. The cheese has a sort of baked or broiled feel, and it’s oh, so good.

The bacon pieces were real bacon and not those bacon bits you get at the grocery store, which we really appreciated. Fresh bacon is always a plus.

Super cheesy

Then we tried another new dessert, the Key Lime Cupcake for $5.99. It’s a vanilla cupcake with key lime curd, graham cracker crumbs, and whipped cream. This one surprised us. It’s not as heavy as some cupcakes, but nice and light. We also liked the texture added by the graham cracker crumbs.

Key Lime Cupcake

Perhaps the most surprising thing is that the mound of whipped cream on top isn’t really a mound…instead, most of that little mountain peak on the dessert is an actual cupcake, which we appreciated because sometimes cupcake frosting is just TOO much. The key lime filling also has a true key lime flavor, so it’s a bit sour, but still sweet.

Overall, Contempo Cafe has really plussed up its menu, especially with breakfast and desserts, so if you’re craving a morning meal or something sweet, head on over.

Check back with AllEars again soon for more.
